For the Cacapon River...including Great Cacapon...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Rapidan River near Culpeper. * WHEN...Until late this evening. * IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, River Road on the Orange County side of the Rapidan River is flooded in a few spots, and pastureland is flooded on both sides of the river. Other low lying roads near the river are also beginning to flood, and access to homes may become limited. No structures are affected at this level. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:45 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 12.7 feet, or 0.3 feet below flood stage. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this morning to a crest of 14.2 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage late this afternoon. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 14.1 feet on 11/04/1947. - Please visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for flood safety and preparedness information

Altostratus clouds form at mid to high-level altitudes
(between 2 and 7 km) and are created by a warm, stable air mass which causes
water vapor
to condense as it rise through the atmosphere. Usually altostratus clouds are
featureless sheets characterized by a uniform color.
In some cases, wind punching through the cloud formation may give it a waved
appearance, called altostratus undulatus. Altostratus clouds
are commonly seen with other cloud formations accompanying them.

Cirrostratus clouds are high, thin clouds that form above
20,000 feet and are made mostly of ice crystals. They sometimes look like giant
feathers, horse tails, or curls of hair in the sky.
These clouds are pushed by the jet stream and can move at high speeds reaching
100 mph.

They indicate that a precipitation is likely within 24 hours.
